Natural Bridges State Park

A haven for wintering Monarch Butterflies, Natural Bridges offers a sandy cove, tidepools, a nature trail through the Butterfly Preserve, and several hiking trails. Bicyclists are encouraged to park their bikes and enjoy the park, or use the marked bike route along the park perimeter

The "natural bridges" that gave the park its name are now gradually being reclaimed by the sea. But each winter, a new natural wonder flocks to the park -- literally "flocks." A eucalyptus grove in the park is the wintering spot for thousands (sometimes tens of thousands) of monarch butterflies. They festoon the leaves of the trees like icing melting off a cake. A trail through this natural wonder is wheelchair accessible.
